Healthy Ground Turkey Tacos Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 2 onion diced
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons lime juice
  • 1 cup water
  • 8 hard taco shells
  • 2 cups lettuce
  • Toppings: guacamole salsa shredded cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, refried beans, etc.

Instructions
 

  • Brown thawed ground turkey, onion and minced garlic in a non-stick fry pan or cast iron skillet.
  • Cook over medium-high heat until the meat begins to brown and is no longer pink in the center, stirring often. Once done, drain excess juice from meat.
  • Add cumin, chili powder and 1 cup water until combined.
  • Add the lime juice and stir to combine.
  • Cover and cook on low for 10 minutes.
  • Add a couple spoonfulls of taco meat to hard shell and top with lettuce. Add additional toppings as desired.

Notes

Notes:
You can substitute ground beef if that is your preference. Hpwever, ground turkey is a tasty and healthy option.
Any type of onion will add flavor. 
Fresh lime juice is the best, but bottled will work as well.
Add salt and pepper as desired.
