Healthy Ground Turkey Tacos Recipe

- 1 pound ground turkey
- 2 onion diced
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 2 teaspoons lime juice
- 1 cup water
- 8 hard taco shells
- 2 cups lettuce
- Toppings: guacamole salsa shredded cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, refried beans, etc.
Brown thawed ground turkey, onion and minced garlic in a non-stick fry pan or cast iron skillet.
Cook over medium-high heat until the meat begins to brown and is no longer pink in the center, stirring often. Once done, drain excess juice from meat.
Add cumin, chili powder and 1 cup water until combined.
Add the lime juice and stir to combine.
Cover and cook on low for 10 minutes.
Add a couple spoonfulls of taco meat to hard shell and top with lettuce. Add additional toppings as desired.
Notes:
You can substitute ground beef if that is your preference. Hpwever, ground turkey is a tasty and healthy option.
Any type of onion will add flavor.
Fresh lime juice is the best, but bottled will work as well.
Add salt and pepper as desired.
